Transition and Transformation
Naomi A. Mandsager Bartley, Ph.D., is a licensed professional clinical counselor and recognized Climate Aware Therapist. Practicing in Northfield, Minnesota, she specializes in working with clients who are in transition and seeking transformation.
Stress, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, loss, and trauma are some of the experiences that bring people to the point of transition. Transition is an important threshold as we journey through life but it can be difficult and overwhelming when life is painful. Naomi is here to help. Within the counseling relationship, Naomi will accompany you through transition and into a transformational process.

Dr. Naomi Bartley facilitates reparative social experiences by first building a strong therapeutic relationship with her client. The therapeutic relationship is considered a caring holding environment based on trust and respect, created to address a range of multifaceted issues such as stress, trauma, relationship dynamics, meaning, purpose, and self-esteem.

Naomi believes we can move toward wholeness, creating well-being in body, mind, heart, and spirit through positive relating, and psychobiological integration. Her mission is to help clients achieve holistic wellness by promoting self-compassion and the use of attention and mindfulness as means to healing, accessing potential, and expanding identity.

Naomi's practice is informed by developmental models, depth psychology, psychoanalytic tradition, family systems theory, health psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, theology, and spirituality. Drawing from Eastern and Western thought, she also utilizes body awareness, dreamwork, and creative expression in her work with clients.

Education & Training
Dr. Bartley received a BA in Psychology and Women's Studies from St. Olaf College in 1991, an MS in Applied Psychology from Eastern Washington University in 1995, and completed her doctorate in Counseling, Counselor Education and Supervision at Oregon State University in 2002. Naomi participated in the Minnesota Seminar in Jungian Studies for numerous years starting in 2009.
Past Experience
Naomi worked in community mental health and private practice from 1995 until 2002 when she joined The Pastoral Counseling Center of the Mid-Willamette Valley as a pastoral psychotherapist and faculty member for the pastoral counselor-in-training program. She also served as a grief counselor in NYC following 9/11. She relocated to Minnesota in 2009, and began working at the Center for Grief, Loss, and Transition in St. Paul while establishing her own practice in Northfield.
Specializations & Credentials
Naomi's specialized training includes EMDR, Critical Incident Stress Management, Grief Counseling, Trauma Therapy, Addiction Treatment, Motivational Interviewing, Family Therapy, and Clinical Supervision. She was also trained in disaster response by the American Red Cross in 2001. She is a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance-NA, the Northfield Grief Coalition, EMDRIA, the Minnesota Jung Association, and past member of AAPC, APA, and ACA.
